Capturing your dress on camera – Why wedding photographers love it

There are many favourite parts to my day as a Kent Wedding Photographer. When it comes to photographing a wedding from the ceremony where a few tears of joy may be shed. To the speeches and smiles of couples loved ones.

However, one of the most highly anticipated moments has to be seeing the blushing bride in her stunning dress for the very first time. A dress she’ll remember forever and it’s my job to capture this memory on camera. It’s a heck of an honour and I am always up for the challenge!

Seeing new fashions in wedding dresses emerge every year is always exciting. With so many different styles out there for brides to choose from, I can wholly appreciate how difficult it can be to choose one.

For some inspiration here’s my rundown of beautiful wedding dress styles  and why I love photographing them.

Boho

One of the hottest trends in wedding dresses at the moment, bohemian style dress are typically adorned with lace and are perfect for a spring or summer wedding. The Australian wedding dress design house Grace Loves Lace is popular around the world with free-spirited brides looking for a dress that’s a little different.

Perfect to photograph – The detail of the lace makes for gorgeous close-up shots.

Princess

So many girls dream of being a princess on their wedding day which means it’s no surprise that this style of dress is one of the most popular out there. Defined waste lines and ballgown skirts all add to this styles romantic look. Stocked in countless boutiques, Maggie Sottero is a design house for modern romantics.

Perfect to photograph – These jaw-dropping dresses make for dramatic photos.

Vintage

For brides who love all things vintage, what better way to celebrate the fashions of decades gone by than with a vintage-inspired dress. Shorter style dresses typically associated with the 1950s are a specialty for design house Timeless Chic and they stock different styles in abundance.

Perfect to photograph because – A vintage-inspired dress will add a touch of glamour to your photos.

Colour/tinted

It may not be the norm but brides are guaranteed to wow their groom and loved ones in a colourful dress. We are now seeing tinted dresses, particularly in pastel shades appearing in all shapes, whatever your style. Discover a selection of beautiful dresses with a hint of colour in the collections by Enzoani.

Perfect to photograph – Colourful dresses will stand out in all your wedding photos.

Contemporary

Shoes sparkling on the floor by Tyler Made Photography

Before I round off, I can’t fail to mention shoes. For many a bride, they are almost, if not as important as choosing their dress and I adore photographing them. From stilettos to kitten heels, a bride’s shoes can say a lot about her personality. Some of my all-time favourite styles of wedding shoes include:

Quirky heels for attention-grabbing photos are a must, just like the Lady Dragon heart heels by Vivienne Westwood for Melissa.

With a pair of embellished shoes by Badgley Mischka, you will sparkle from head to toe in all your photos.

How could anyone say no to a striking pair of Louboutin stilettos with their iconic red soles that will take centre stage in your wedding photos.

If you are looking for a wedding photographer in Kent or London for your special day. Who you know is going to pay your dream dress the attention it deserves. I would love to hear from you.
